CONSOLIDATED STORAGE 2017-2022Holtec has submitted an application to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for a license to store ALL of the nation's commercial spent fuel at a site in southeastern New Mexico. Many organizations, individuals, and SRIC strongly oppose such a facility in New Mexico or elsewhere because it is dangerous, unnecessary, and expensive. FAQ Sheet On September 22, 2020, the State of New Mexico, New Mexico Land Commissioner, and SRIC submitted comments on the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Holtec Project. On July 28, 2020, the New Mexico Governor expressed her opposition to Holtec to President Trump. On June 7, 2019, New Mexico Governor expressed her opposition to the Holtec proposal. On June 19, 2019, New Mexico State Land Commissioner Stephanie Garcia Richard expressed her opposition to the proposal and pointed out that, despite its claims, Holtec does not control the mineral resources, including oil and gas, at the site. The Holtec Environmental Report includes many factual errors and omissions that undermine the reliability of its application documents. SRIC documents some of them. What's the Holtec Proposal? Presentation to Indivisible Nob Hill on June 25, 2018 regarding the Holtec proposal and changes in the law that would be necessary. Some Concerns about the Holtec Proposal presentation on May 18, 2018 to the New Mexico Radioactive and Hazardous Materials Committee. Other presentations/handouts to the legislative committee are at: What's the Holtec Proposal? Presentation at the Santa Fe Public Library on April 16, 2018 regarding the Holtec proposal and the reality of opposition to the plan. What's the Holtec Proposal? Presentation on March 19, 2018 regarding basic information about what is Holtec proposing and some of the concerns. "All the Nation’s High Level Nuclear Waste Coming to New Mexico? The nuclear waste dump is permitted to operate until 2024, but the federal government want to expand the amount and types of waste allowed with NO end date.
We need your help to protect New Mexico!
